oil pulling

Have you heard of oil pulling before? Well if you haven't, listen up, cause this Ayurvedic natural remedy rocks! Why and how so? Look below!

How do you do it?

The pure oils actually pull out harmful bacteria, fungus and other harmful organisms from the teeth, gums and throat! So far, my longest time is 6 mins. Hahaha, I know, at least 14 mins more to go right. But you know what? It's an improvement from when I first started. I could keep in in for about  2 minutes? What I think really helps is distracting yourself, like watch tele or something entertaining on YouTube and time will fly as you oil pull. Oh yes and btw, I use the coconut oil in the picture above, Nutiva coconut oil is really amazing because of it's texture, it's the best I've tried. It's silky, smooth and light. (I know these terms may seem like pretty typical, generic terms to describe an oil, BUT, you will know what I mean if you have tried a few and if you compare them to this oil.)

Good luck!

nuts for coconut

Ever since I've been given this amazing opportunity to work at my yoga center, my intake of coconut water has been nothing short of regular and thoroughly enjoyable (the shop below sells coconuts you see). Anyways, you know how eating certain foods  make you feel good  while after consuming some other types of food,  you end up feeling bloated, and feel crappy ? Well, for me, coconut water and the juicy flesh of the coconut just always makes me feel super.

When I consume it, I realize I don't feel as peckish as I usually would, my tummy seems to be less irritable and lastly, well, it's just an awesome thirst quencher to beat the sweltering heat!

Coconuts actually have antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. Now, it doesn't stop there, this fruit is low in fat, carbs and sugar, pretty much making it the next best thing to drinking water (it is very hydrating for the body too).

No wonder the coconut tree is often referred to as the tree of life.. So what are you waiting forrrr, get your hands on a coconut today :) Not the canned drinks yeah, the water and flesh from an actual, NATURAL coconut.Haha.

LIPS: DIY LIPGLOSS

After watching Jeannie Mai advertise how to make your own lipgloss, I finally made time to buy the ingredients and try it out.

What you will need:

  1. Aloe Vera (Just one is enough)
  2. Coconut oil (Cooking oil )
  3. Vitamin E oil
  4. Teaspoon
  5. Bowl
  6. Container/Vial/Anything to store your lipgloss in

How to do it:

  • Scoop out a teaspoon of Aloe vera
  • Half a teaspoon of coconut oil
  • MIX
  • Add in a drop or 2 of pure vitamin E oil
  • MIX
  • Store in container/wherever you want
Step by step picture guide

After trying this out, I realized that if you want a natural lipgloss, using coconut oil on your lips is really all you need. I suppose the added benefits of the aloe vera and vitamin E is a bonus though. (They are both super moisturizing for our skin, reduce signs of aging skin, contain antioxidants and super for healing the skin)

If you are in a rush , my advice, and something I will start doing too is to just store a little coconut oil in a vial I can carry along in my handbag for a quick lip glossy look.

I also realized that the sheen provided by coconut oil (only) on my lips lasted way longer than the aloe and vit e combination. However, I must stress that my lips felt SO supple when I used both. Really, I have sensitive skin, I have used Vaseline, lip balms and numerous lip gloss brands, if anything, this is a natural alternative to a lip moisturizer. I'd totally recommend it to everyone.

Try this out, or hey try just dabbing a little coconut oil on your lips.. it works :)
