Last month, was breast cancer awareness month. As my mother has been a victim of this disease, she decided to partake in an awareness initiative conducted by a hospital in Singapore. Portraits of different women from varied age groups were taken and displayed, along with a few words to describe their journey and advice they would give other women with regards to the disease. Mummy asked me to join her for the shoot, so we spent a little part of an afternoon with the man who was her surgeon, who ALSO was the photographer (photography is his hobby and he's really really good at it, makes me wonder how, how on earth some people are so gifted, in an all rounded way?!).
Cancer is the principal cause of death in Singapore with Breast Cancer being the most common among women. Having said that, it is also the most easily detectable with the highest survival rate.
The picture of mummy and I was in color but it didn't turn out well on my mobile, so here's a black and white version of it.
Hope her story and battle against the disease makes an impact in someones life.
